Support the wellbeing of Black girls and women. Art therapists at A LONG WALK HOME understand that mental health is a racial justice issue.

Dear Family, Friends, and Colleagues,

Black women and girls are at the front and center of change in critical times in history and today. This year, I am dedicating my 2020 fundraising page for A Long Walk Home to five young Black women: Rekia Boyd, Lyniah Bell, Latasha Harlins, Breonna Taylor, and Darnella Frazier. Please help me raise funds to support the wellbeing of Black girls in Chicago, across the country and around the world. Read this Chicago Tribune Article about how A Long Walk Home supports the leadership of Black girls and women in the racial justice movement.

#SayHerName

"We are in a battle for the souls of Black girls." Monique W. Morris

As a dedicated board member of A Long Walk Home, (ALWH) since 2015 and a creator of one of ALWH's programs, Girl/Friends Leadership Institute in 2009, I am requesting your help to reach our end of the year fundraising goal of $20,000.

Black girls and women have been on the frontlines of fighting for racial and gender equality, but our stories and lives are often overlooked. Until now. Many are walking the path to freedom led by our ancestors, those who have fought for racial and gender liberation, like Harriet Jacobs, Ida B. Wells, Recy Taylor, Rosa Parks, Fannie Lou Hamer, Joan Little and Oluwatoyin Salau.

Your gift will support Black girls through art therapy and political action. Your donations toward art-based leadership training, emergency COVID-19 relief funds, and individual/group art therapy and counseling will support Black girls and their families.

A donation of any amount will go a long way to helping me meet my 2020 goal for A LONG WALK HOME, INC. Please consider the following contribution amounts:

$25 - Self-Care Basket for a Family Bereaved by Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence, or Police Violence
$50 - Art Kit for Virtual Healing Circle
$100 - 1 Counseling Session with Dr. Lashanda Nalls
$200 - COVID-19 Emergency Relief Funds
$2500 - 1 Year of Counseling Sessions for a Girl/Friends Youth Leader

Thank you for being someone we can count on during these changing times. We truly are more powerful together.
