Dear [Friend's Name]
I hope this finds you and your family in a place of personal love, peace and health as we enter the festive season of sharing. On the heels of this historical presidential election and just before the close of 2016, I, as a dedicated board member of A Long Walk Home, (ALWH), am reaching out to you with an even greater urgency than ever before. We need your help to reach our fundraising goal of securing $30,000 in 30 days! [Your Fundraiser's Name Will Automatically Go Here!] Give today.
Through creative expression, art, and activism, ALWH supports girls and young women find healing and empowerment from their most painful experiences: sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and racial discrimination.
As a (select one:
survivor or mother/wife/husband brother/father/sister to a survivor) of XYZ violation, I am aware of the trauma and the lasting impact that can derail a young woman's trajectory to becoming her best self. I have seen up close how ALWH has empowered girls and young women from trauma, thus transforming families and communities most impacted by gender and racial violence.
May I count on your support of $100 (personalized amount according to your recipient and link to your personal fundraising page or our website donor page) to continue our transformative work?
With your donation you will be named a charter donor of our "Say Her Name" Memorial, an art-activism campaign led by our Girl/Friends teen leaders to bring awareness to the violence they face in their schools and communities. Inspired by the #SayHerName national movement to bring attention to black girls and women who are victims of police violence, our memorial will honor the life of Rekia Boyd, a 22-year-old African-American woman who was killed by an off duty Chicago police officer in North Lawndale, the same community in which our teen girls play, go to school, and live.
Our youth leaders are in the early stages of developing the Say Her Name Memorial; you can read more about our powerful work in the Chicago Tribune here.
Please Give today. Now more than ever, the girls and young women of A Long Walk Home need your support. ALWH remains committed to supporting the most vulnerable amongst us--females of color--find their voices, become leaders, and ending violence in their communities. Your contribution of $100 will make a real difference and have impact.
Thank you, AS ALWAYS, for being someone I can lean on during these changing times. We truly are more powerful
together.
Sincerely,
